 Creating a Covered California Account & Attaching an Agent

  1. Go to www.coveredca.com and click on the yellow tab in the middle of the page that says Start Here.”

  2. In the top right corner, click on “Create Account.”

  3. Click on the “Continue” button on the far left of the screen under Individual or Family.

  4. Follow the prompts to create your account.  Be sure to write down your username and `password as you will need it for the next step.

  5. After completing the account set up, you will be taken to a login screen.  Log in using the username and password you just created.

  6. Answer the 5 security questions in case you forget your username and password and click “Continue.”  

  7. You should now see your name on the left side of the screen.  In the top right corner of the screen click on the “Find Help Near You” link.  In the middle of the page you will see Agents.  Click on the tab below that says “Find Agents.”

  8. On the right side of the page you can search by name.  Enter the agents first and last names in the name box.  Click on the “Search” tab. Leave the business box blank.

  9. The agents name and contact information will appear.  Click on the name selected and hit “Continue.”

  10. Check all 3 boxes and type your name in the signature box.  Doing so will allow that agent to assist you if you have any problems with the application.  It also allows the agent to assist you with any issues you may have with the insurance company or Covered California going forward.  Click on the “Confirm” tab to finish.  You will get a message saying the agent has been successfully added.

  11. To go back to the home screen and view plan options, you must close your browser and reopen as the dialogue box does not have a close function.  When you reopen your browser and go to www.coveredca.com, you should still be logged in.  If not, input your username and password.  You are now ready to select your plan and start an application.
